PDO threads provide sustained mechanical and biological stimulation of the scalp for several weeks after a single treatment session. Avoid blood-thinning medications and alcohol for one week before treatment. Wash your hair on the day of the session. Do not apply scalp oils or serums before your appointment. Inform your dermatologist of any scalp conditions, history of keloid scarring, or relevant medications.

A topical scalp anaesthetic is applied before the procedure. Fine PDO threads are then implanted into the scalp using a thin needle across the thinning areas. The threads are placed just beneath the skin surface and the entry points are small and virtually imperceptible. The procedure takes approximately 30–45 minutes. Mild scalp tightness and tenderness are common immediately after.

Avoid washing the scalp for 24 hours after treatment. Do not massage or rub the treated scalp area for several days. Avoid vigorous exercise and direct sun exposure for 24 hours. Hair PDO threads are safe when performed by an experienced dermatologist. Temporary scalp tenderness, mild swelling, and occasional small bumps at thread sites are common and resolve as the threads begin to dissolve.
